I’m a Rescue Angel.
Unlike Jenny, I did not and do not use biomedical intervention to ‘recover’ my son from the bowels of Hell aka autism.
So, you’re probably wondering why “in Sam Hill” did I connect myself to her organization?
I became a Rescue Angel because I wanted to be a listening ear for ASD families. Unfortunately, I am not the “angel” who would tell you that biomeds worked for my son.
I also don’t think a Rescue Angel is qualified enough “to guide” any family “through the recovery process”.
Hmmm, that would probably explain why I’m not getting a whole lot of calls or emails.
It’s just a matter of time before I receive my Donald Trump-like email announcing my termination, and to be honest with you, I’m not going to lose any sleep thinking about it.
I have often wondered if Generation Rescue even looked at my “angel application” because of my answer to the first question regarding “child’s symptoms“.
Symptoms?
My drawers always bunch up whenever someone implies that my son is “sick”, and the more I read about what Jenny’s going around saying, the tighter these dang things get.
It’s statements like this one that cause me to nearly loose consciousness.
If this is true then why is Evan still on the GFCF diet? And why does he still receive therapies to cover any ’setbacks’ he may have?
There isn’t a cure for autism…meaning you can’t get rid of it. Therefore, Evan still has it.
Look, I know she’s a mom, and we’ll all do whatever is necessary to keep our children well. I just wish she’d stop making these kind of statements.
She is not an authority figure. Not in the autism community. Not in the medical community. Not anywhere.
She does not speak for all of us.
In addition, her books should not be viewed as “handbooks” or “bibles” when it comes to what you should be doing for your child(ren).
Sadly, Jenny may also be responsible for the increase in the lack of respect parents are feeling from their child(ren)’s medical providers and the pro-vaccine community.
This quote can be found on her site on the page titled Before You Leave.
Believing that your child’s ND is caused by environmental factors requires that you confront the reality that doctors you trusted unwittingly failed you and that a government that you believed would protect you from unsafe drugs did not.
And we already know how she feels about Mercury and its connection with autism.
As you can see, I’m irritated tonight.
Like I said, I wish Jenny would get out of the spotlight.
She says her organization helps families in need through her “Family Rescue Program”, but I can’t seem to find any information on her site regarding it.
If she really wants to help ASD families… she should become a lender for Lend4Health.
Somehow, I don’t see that happening because…
Generation Rescue has helped to recover thousands of children from autism and continues to prove that Autism is Reversible.
The Gospel according to Jenny. {sigh}
Reversible… meaning,
Of or relating to a process, such as a chemical reaction or a phase change, in which the system undergoing the process can be returned to its original state.
Reversible. Does this mean if you stop the biomedical intervention, the autism will “return”?
What about genetics? How does one go about “reversing” the autism caused by genetic anomalies?
Anyone????
It’s obviously time for me to go levitate…
I have to share my “gifts, insights, and vision, which will help energetically shift the Earth’s frequency, as well as, raise the consciousness of all of humanity”.
{Sadly, the website where this famous Jenny quote came from is now… out of business. Go figure!}
Breathe in. Breathe out.

You have a fan in me lmbo
Hey there, Bridget.
We need to come up with our own title since “Mother Warrior” is taken.
Got any suggestions? tee hee

I think Jenny has done a lot to educate people about some issues that were not being discussed openly. She does not have the ONLY answer to what is going on, but she does have some. We are all learning on this path, and some of us may have injuries that are treatable, while others may have permanent damage. We won’t know unless we try what is available.
And while you bemoan the lack of respect MD’s might be experiencing, they have NOT kept up with the chemical or environmental (likely also caused by chemical changes to the foods and pollens etc) causes of our growing chronic health problems. They are not keeping up with targeted treatments involving diet and nutritional supplements, and have a tendency to call things they don’t understand “psychosomatic” or incurable.
I have multiple chemical sensitivities with occasional autistic experiences as a result of certain exposures. As an adult with some experience observing cause and effect, and a great deal of effort retraining the chemically injured parts of my brain, I am able to connect most of my symptoms to exposures, although some symptoms last for days and are compounded with additional exposures, making it more difficult to determine the source sometimes. Also, not all VOC’s have any odour, or any that make it through my congestion, so I don’t know I’ve been exposed to something until the symptoms manifest.
I also have to manage my diet very carefully, due to some debilitating “side effects” I get from foods, notably dairy and wheat, not sure yet if it’s all gluten or not, but soy, corn, grapes etc I have to avoid, or I will get extremely lethargic and irritable, or experience pain, and other digestive issues. I function a whole lot better when I am very very careful with my diet.
If I was able to completely avoid chemical exposures, I would be a completely different person, in what I could do with my life. As it is, I suffer severe neurological and CNS symptoms from things as common as conventional laundry products, especially fabric softeners and dryer sheets, most shampoos and conditioners, soaps and deodorants, pretty well anything fragranced. Diesel exhaust, propane, vinyl, caulk, textile finishes… are other things that can impair my abilities. Sometimes they affect my emotional responses, usually my cognitive abilities, often my co-ordination…
Give me clean air with no VOC’s and I’d be an ordinarily functional human being.
If I were a chemically injured child, I would not have the experience or the tools, and probably not the environment, to be able to determine and communicate what in my diet or environment was affecting me. I would be completely dependent upon my parents to conduct experiments with my diet and surroundings, to see if my ability to function could improve.
I personally feel like a happy human only when I’m not being chemically injured by what other people are putting into my air. Unfortunately I can only control what I myself put into my air. The rest of the time it’s like I’m being randomely drugged and poisoned.
Maybe some percentage of autistic children will improve greatly when their diets are carefully controlled, and the chemicals are removed from their environments, and they are kept away from environments where they will receive exposures. (almost everywhere these days) Maybe. But no-one will know unless they try.
I don’t believe judging people will help. No one is perfect. We’re all learning and don’t have all the pieces to the puzzle yet. And there are limitations to everything anyone does discover.
If the environmental movement taught anyone anything, griping within the community will only prevent progress from happening.
Hi there! Really great blog – plan to explore it more fully, especiallly the resources you’ve mentioned that I know nothing about (lend4health, etc.).
Re “sick kids,” as it happens my PDD son is NOT a sick kid, and never has been. In fact, he’s autistic and perfectly healthy (so far as I know, anyway). Touch wood.
But it does seem to be the case that some percentage (NO idea what percentage, but at a guess under 20%) of people with autism really are sick. They are suffering from GI issues, mitochondrial disorder, mental illness (OCD, bipolar disorder, etc.), and a whole range of other very real “sickness.” I’m fairly sure Jenny’s son falls into this category.
Personally, I suspect that these individuals, who are both autistic AND physically ill will wind up with a diagnosis that differs from the diagnoses provided to people who are autistic but are NOT physically ill.
But the illness does seem to be the real deal.
Best,
Lisa (autism.about.com)
Holy Canolis, Batman! LISA RUDY!!! WOW!
Thank you for stopping by and taking time to comment, Lisa. I really appreciate it!
I just wanted to say that I am by no means stating that the physical illnesses some of our children experience are not real. For I know they are.
I’m just perturbed because Jenny is going around telling people her son no longer has autism because she reversed it.
Not all of the remedies she recommends works for every child… and not all of the families in our community have her celebrity status which makes these treatments affordable.
The message I receive whenever I read something she has said is you have to keep trying… and if you don’t, you’ve failed your child.
I could be wrong in my “interpretation”, but I feel a message like this is a cheap shot.
Thanks again for visiting!

Hey Linda.
Welcome back.
You and I already know my thoughts on VOCs and their connection with autism and other NDs. I agree that if the world were a cleaner place, we would be healthier people. But it isn’t… and our children, and adults like you, are paying the price.
I don’t think I’m judging Jenny. I think what she’s done for her son is great, but … I don’t think they should be the poster people of our community.
If my son and I had stayed in Rhode Island, he would have been tested at 15 months (because he wasn’t speaking), instead of at age 3 (tested three wks before his 4th bday). His pediatrician was amazing, and she really did have his best interests at heart.
I don’t think everyone in the medical community is failing us.
And I believe there truly are doctors, scientists, and researchers out there who what to know what’s going and are trying to find the cause(s).
It doesn’t help our cause if someone’s running around blaming them as a whole.
Be mad at the doctors who failed you; don’t be mad all of them.
I think we should be educating them… in a positive way.
When Jenny makes statements like this, “… the medical community doesn’t understand that children with autism are actually physically sick and how pediatricians across the country have no idea how to fix them, …” (Mother Warriors, Chapter 4, Page 27, Paragraph 3), she once again is taking the role as our “spokesperson” and speaking for all of us.
I’m not one of those parents who’s irritated because I haven’t read any of her stuff.
I’m irritated because I have.
Thanks again for your comment.

WATCHING JENNY MCCARTHY ON LARRY KING LIVE LED ME ON THE PATH TO RESEARCHING BIOMEDICAL AND NATURAL THERAPIES FOR MY GRANDSON’S AUTISM, WHICH YES INDEED WAS CAUSED BY HIS DOCTOR GIVING HIM NINE VACCINES AT ONCE AGE AT ONE. HE IS NOW AGE TWO AND HAS PROGRESSED DRAMATICALLY DUE TO DIET AND NUTRITIONAL INTERVENTION. HOWEVER, MY DAUGHTER IS IN “DENIAL” ABOUT THE DAMAGE OF CHEMICAL EXPOSURES AND STUPIDLY MOVED HIM INTO A HOUSE WITH RECENT RENNOVATIONS INCLUDING FLOOR VARNISH. IMMEDIATELY MY GRANDSON RESUMED HIS HEAD BANGING AND HITTING AS WELL AS EXTREME HYPERACTIVITY. HAVING MCS MYSELF, I AM WELL AWARE OF THE HEALTH DAMAGES CAUSED BY VOC’S AND MANY OTHER TOXIC CHEMICALS ESPECIALLY BRAIN AND NEUROLOGICAL DAMAGES. IT MAKES PERFECT SENSE THAT A VULNERABLE INFANT EXPOSED TO A TOXIC OVERLOAD OF VACCINES WOULD INDEED BECOME CHEMICALLY SENSITIVE AS MY GRANDSON HAS. BUT SINCE MY OWN DAUGHTER HAS ALWAYS REFUSED TO RECOGNIZE THE VALIDITY OF MY OWN MCS DUE TO A TOXIC SOLVENT EXPOSURE 20 YEARS AGO, SHE IS NOW CREATING HER SON’S DEMISE BY PLACING HIM IN AN ENVIRONMENT THAT IS SO TOXIC THAT I HAD TO LEAVE HER HOUSE WITHIN 30 SECONDS OF WALKING IN THE DOOR. I AM DEVESTATED BY MY CONCERNS FOR MY GRANDSON AND NOW CANNOT HANDLE WITNESSING HIM REGRESSING BACK TO GROUND ZERO. SO I HAVE INFORMED HER THAT I AM RESIGNING FROM MY BABYSITTING POSITION UNTIL SHE GETS HIM OUT OF THAT TOXIC HOME.
Hi Lyn,
I saw all the caps and thought, “OMGosh, she is really mad at me.” ;)
It is true that Jenny’s appearances/books have led a lot of people to explore biomeds and homeopathy, and many people credit her for taking that path. I’m not speaking against that. This is not why I’m irritated.
I am very glad that your grandson is part of that percentage who positively responds to biomeds and homeopathy.
I am also saddened that your daughter doesn’t see the connection between environmental toxins and their effect on humans.
You continue being the voice for your grandson. He needs you!

Well, you got me there – I haven’t read Jenny’s book (I can’t read anything with ink and paper due to the VOC’s and particulates affecting my cognitive abilities).
I’ve just seen her on a few tv shows, and thought she brought up some very valid points that weren’t discussed in public before, but maybe wasn’t paying enough attention to if she was claiming what was true for her was true for everyone, as that is rarely the case for anything. She shouldn’t be making blanket statements about all doctors or all people with autism.
I think it would be great if people from different sectors (if you will) of the community were able to poster together – showing the spectrum in its full glory, and not argue amongst each other that there is only one cause, or one solution, because there are many.
As far as the vaccine issue is concerned, children should not be injected with toxic chemicals as preservatives, just for manufacturing and storage convenience. I don’t think there is anyone who can argue that (except the industry).
My son had an end of the world screaming reaction to his 2nd vaccination in 1984 or 85, so I just had to say no more, because it was obvious to me that something wasn’t right, this was more than just ordinary discomfort.
But not all kids did or do, so I suppose that’s where the epigenetic variations come into play. Just get the toxic chemicals out of the vaccines and possibly reduce their frequency and most objections will vanish.
And I don’t blame the doctors for their ignorance regarding environmental health. I’m all for educating them peacefully… but when sick or affected people have to try to educate them while seeking help, the burden is on the wrong shoulders.
I blame the pharmaceutical and chemical industries for influencing the curriculums, and spreading false propoganda (tobacco science) all over the place that they have no responsibility for creating any of the problems and can step up as heroes for providing “treatments”.
I also blame the industry for running good doctors out of practice. Over and over again, any doc that does show real progress helping people with MCS or other environmentally induced health issues, gets raked through the coals and usually loses their license because they can’t afford to defend themselves against industry. I don’t know if this has been happening with the good docs in your community, but it definately has with the ones who treat MCS and chemical injuries.
Dr Rae, of the Environmental Health Centre in Dallas, is currently being raked thru the coals on made up charges by the insurance companies of people affected by 9/11, and he has had 30,000 patients, many of whose lives he saved.
So, the system is broken, and very much manipulated by industry.
If we look at how industry advertises things, they do not offer a balanced perspective. They make up a story that grabs your attention, regardless of the truth.
That Jenny was able to get so much attention to some very serious issues, we could all be thankful for.
Instead of getting irritated that it’s not the whole truth coming from her, put that irritation to work against the people who don’t want any of the truth to come out, and help her and everyone else get the bigger picture.
Ms. Linda,
You are truly the voice of reason.
I’m a new mom (only been working the gig for less than 8 years), so please excuse me when I vocalize my irritation.
I just don’t like it when someone says, “Look at me!” “Look what I did.” It’s, well, irritating.
I’m working through all of my emotions which is why I started blogging… hence, my blog’s title. I’m healing…
I thank you for sharing your thoughts with me. :)

hey Adonya,
It’s a journey I wish no one had to take.
If we all try to stick together and work to get the planet cleaned up of all the neuro-toxins and other crap we’re forced to consume, our kids will have a better future.
And I thank YOU for blogging about some really important things.
: )
Good post, there are other organizations where you can volunteer your time. Have you been to the http://www.talkautism.com site to answer questions? What about joining your local ASA chapter? there is http://www.meetup.com where you join local groups to meet other families, etc.
Also a site I was busy with last year at this time called Wish Upon A Hero at http://www.wishuponahero.com use autism in the search and there are families that need help and guidance.
Bonnie,
As always, you are a wealth of information.
I will definitely check out Talk Autism, Meetup and Wish Upon a Hero.
The only ASA chapter I have is 2 hours away, but I already support the organization through my paid membership. Maybe I can find another way to help them. I’ll look into it.:)
Thanks again!
